From Cast to Reel: Reading One Fishing Run

Game
The Big One English logo

One fishing run in The Big One is about rhythm more than complicated controls: cast, wait for a bite, hook at the right moment, then reel the fish in. That short loop gradually connects to equipment choices, net management, and Fishpedia collection.

The game is a casual fishing RPG built around 150+ fish species, 10 fishing locations, and Fishpedia collection. If you are starting out, read what the screen is telling you before worrying about perfect inputs.

Two Moments the Screen Teaches You

Before casting, check your setup. During reeling, watch the fish movement and line tension.

One Catch Moves Through Four Steps

StepWhat to watchNext decision
CastCheck the current spot and equipped setup.Repeat in an easy spot until the timing feels natural.
WaitLet the bite window come to you.Try another bait if the wait feels long.
HookReact when the bite arrives.Watch the timing instead of rushing through it.
ReelFollow the fish movement and line tension. If control feels rough, review reeling speed and tension resistance.

Equipment Changes the Feel of Play

Rods shape the feel of Reeling speed and Tension resistance. Baits connect to Rare spawn rate and Reduced bite wait time, while the Net affects how long you can keep fishing before returning. Instead of memorizing numbers, ask whether the fish is easy to bring in, the wait feels too long, or the net fills too quickly.

After the Catch, Return to Net and Fishpedia

Caught fish go into the Net. Sell them when needed, then prepare the next Equipment upgrade in the Shop. When a new species appears, check the Fishpedia; that record is what makes the next location feel purposeful.

A Comfortable Early Flow

  • Repeat casting and reeling at an easy fishing spot first.
  • When the net is full, learn the sell flow instead of forcing another run.
  • If waiting feels slow, change bait before changing everything else.
  • After a new catch, open Fishpedia and set your next target.
