The Big One Basic Bait Routine: When to Switch from Worm to Shrimp
The Big One is a casual fishing RPG built around casting, waiting, hooking, reeling, equipment progression, 150+ fish species, 10 fishing locations, and Fishpedia collection. Bait is one of the equipment choices you touch most often in the Shop, so it helps to switch for a goal instead of always jumping to the priciest option.
This routine focuses on the four basic bait choices, not special bait. Cast a few times at the same location, then switch one step only after checking Fishpedia gaps, Gold, and Net space.
Know the four basic baits
These images come from the game resources. Learning the names first makes Shop choices, bait changes, and Fishpedia goals easier to connect.

When to switch bait
| Situation | Bait to try | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| A new fishing location just opened | Start with the most familiar bait | Feel the location change first and watch how quickly the Net fills. |
| You want fewer Fishpedia gaps | Compare with a mid-step bait | Check whether the same location starts showing a wider catch mix. |
| Finding target fish matters more than reeling practice | Use the stronger basic bait briefly | Read the result screen and Fishpedia before spending all Gold. |
| Net space is almost gone | Pause the expensive bait | Sort fish to sell and fish to keep first. |
One-session bait routine
1.Check owned bait and Gold in the Shop.
2.Cast once or twice at the same location with the current bait.
3.Review Fishpedia gaps or target fish.
4.Switch only one bait step and cast again.
5.Read the result screen before the Net fills, then decide the next purchase.
